Wearsafe works hard to make sure we use the minimum amount of battery while running in the background, waiting for your alert. Typically, this is 1-3% of total battery usage on a charge.
To save battery power, first make sure that you do not have any active alerts. Open alerts activate your location services, microphone, and transmit data to your responders via the Wearsafe system, increasing battery use. You can tell an alert is open when your Wearsafe App home screen looks like this:
To close the alert, slide the ! control left and enter your birthdate. We have full instructions including a video in this support article.
If you have no open alerts, you may have activated Wearsafe Rewind™. Wearsafe Rewind uses your phone's microphone and temporary memory to prepare up to 60 seconds of audio in case you need to start an alert. This audio processing uses more battery than standard background operations, and can be disabled by tapping on more from the app home screen, tapping Wearsafe Rewind from the Settings section, and tapping the off button.
